Look!

As I read through 1st Nephi for the sixth time this year, I was struck by an answer Nephi received.  It was particularly moving to me being in my last month of pregnancy.  It has made having this painting in my bedroom even more meaningful.

Nephi was having a vision because he had asked to see and understand the things his father Lehi had seen in a dream.  One of those things was the tree of life.  Nephi wanted to know what the meaning of the tree was.  He asked the Spirit who was his companion during the vision for the meaning.  Instead of telling Nephi what the meaning of the tree was, the Spirit said, "Look!"

Nephi looked, and this is what he saw:



And he knew.  It is the Love of God. 


Womankind, Look!  You are the tree of life.  A little child being loved in your arms may be all a lost or questioning person may need in their life to know the Love of God. 

God sent a baby as His ultimate act of love for his children.

God still sends babies to teach the world what love is really all about.
